Dear John,
It all started with this one letter I wrote to you.
I could never have imagined how this story would unfold.
Sometimes it’s been rather unclear to me where you begin
and I myself end.
I began to see your traces everywhere and I started to collect them.
John, I did this because I care about you. I have made you a home!

Dear John (2021) is an immersive installation in which the viewer is invited to enter the home of John. Like a house but dismantled and stitched back together, ordinary objects have been imbued with new meanings, leaving traces of John’s wondrous mind in unexpected places.
The artefacts function as if mise-en-scene in a photograph. However, unlike a photograph, the viewer may enter the frame and observe the scene through John’s perspective. Through his gaze, the boundary between the familiar and the strange is dissolved. In John’s home, poetry finds its way into the most common objects of everyday life.
